Practical Shooting IPSC

Here the shooter gets out of the closed area/place of the "shooting booth" and passes to the open shooting space. This exercise demands accuracy, speed, good physical condition and quick perception of the shooting stage the shooter executes in.

At this type of shooting the shooter needs to execute a number of different shooting scenarios with the maximum accuracy possible at the minimum time. Although the shooting scenarios are not the same from game to game, the general idea is to shoot at the targets (which the judge will show you before the shooting) at the minimum time, without shooting at the not-to-be-shot (Noshoot) targets (if they exist in the scenario) but by following the terms of the scenario. A game consists of a number of stages depending on its category. Pistols of the minimum calibre of 9 millimetres and rifles (streaky and smooth- barrelled) are mostly used. The categories of the game/spot are defined by the type of the gun used and are separated in standard, modified and open. Moreover, depending in the energy of the bullet of the gun used by the shooter, we have two ratings: Minor and Major.

The energy of the bullet is defined by its weight and speed. The shooter's rating is expressed in percentage having the first shooter with a result of 100%.It is easily understood that there cannot exist comparison between two games unless the scenarios of the stages are exactly the same. The targets are standard IPSC, Pepper Poppers (metal targets that fall when they get hit accurately) and the latest targets that IPSC imposes in a while. The rules of Practical Shooting are especially complicated about what is allowed or what is forbidden.

Generally, the rules have been made in such a way that they help the shooter and guarantee the maximum safety possible. The combination of quick shooting with the use of big calibres certainly attracts most people who want to deal with shooting, as it offers more action and spectable than the Stable Target.
